At Maldon Court Preparatory School we aim for the children in our care to develop self-awareness, positive self esteem and confidence to lead healthy, active lives, demonstrating socially and morally responsible behaviour as members of our school and the wider community. In our latest inspection report is was stated that;
· ‘The school succeeds extremely well in its aims to promote the traditional values of kindness, respect and courtesy within a happy and nurturing atmosphere; to encourage social awareness and respect for others and to create confident and happy pupils. Provision for pupil’s personal development has greatly improved since the last inspection.’
· ‘Pupils develop a strong moral sense.’
· ‘Pupils are friendly and supportive of one another and demonstrate exemplary behaviour which is constantly praised.’
· ‘The quality of relationships between the staff and pupils and among pupils is outstanding, adults and pupils are very comfortable in each others company.’
· ‘Pupils work and play very happily together.’
· ‘Pupils have acquired an outstanding appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures promoted by an interesting range of activities and visits.’
· ‘The school promotes a healthy life style and has won the national healthy schools award.’
· ‘Every pupil has a nutritious school lunch and they sometimes have the opportunity of eating vegetables that they have grown in the school garden.’
The PSHCE and Citizenship curriculum of work includes the use of Circle Time, investigations, debates and, in later years, the responsibility of being a school prefect, opportunities to be part of the School council, thus creating many opportunities arising through 'hidden' curriculum in relation to pastoral care of pupils.
