Pre-Prep Class
|
In our Pre-Prep we provide a happy, safe, stimulating, secure environment with emphasis on the all round development of your child. Children are encouraged to grow in confidence, become independent and have feelings of high self worth.
The varied curriculum we offer in Pre-Prep ensures the opportunity for children to enjoy and learn from a range of topics. The topics are organised around the six areas of learning within the Foundation Stage framework:

Working within these areas we are able to ensure that every child achieves the five Every Child matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well being. We encourage the children to develop their own independence by helping them to make choices from a broad range of activities. These activities have been carefully planned to help the children feel supported by the staff, but also become as independent as possible. By utilising the areas both indoors and outside your child will gain valuable learning experiences such as baking, painting, craft work, sand and water trays, musical activities and a book corner.
Being located in the heart of Maldon allows us to regularly take the children out on visits whereby they can experience the wider community around them. We are then able to use these experiences within Pre-Prep to enhance our learning of the topic areas covered at the time. Recent visits have included Maldon library, a bakery and Supermarket.
To help prepare the children to move on to Reception and develop their reading skills, we follow the Jolly Phonics scheme which allows the children to gain an understanding of phonetic sounds. This is a well recognised and fun scheme which is totally interactive whereby teachers introduce the children to the letter sounds in an enjoyable, multisensory way enabling them to read and write words. |
