Physical Education

At Maldon Court Preparatory School we aim to establish an understanding of the importance of exercise and to foster an enthusiasm and enjoyment in physical activity that our pupils can take with them through life.

All children participate in a range of competitive games as well as swimming, cross country, athletics, gymnastics and dance.  As pupils develop their individual skills, they learn to apply them to a variety of competitive and group situations.

Children participate in swimming lessons throughout their schooling.  We aim for every child to be able to swim from an early age.  The regular provision of swimming lessons results in Maldon Court School pupils reaching a high standard.

The children are engaged in PE lessons for 2 hours a week and are also offered a variety of extra-curricular activities.  We have teams taking part in inter-school competitions in cross country, tag rugby, football, hockey, netball, swimming, cricket, rounders and athletics.

All our teachers are qualified to teach games as part of their teaching qualification.  In addition we have a specialist teacher of Physical Education to deliver and co-ordinate the majority of activities and events that take place during the year.

As well as our on-site facilities, we use a variety of local venues to deliver our lessons. These include Maldon town Football Club astro-turf, the tennis courts and football pitches at Maldon Promenade Park, Blackwater Leisure Centre, The Plume School athletics facilities and The Maltings Academy Sports Centre swimming pool.

Our pupils show a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to sports and to each other. We aim high and enjoy many successes, at both personal and team level.
