Design & Technology
We encourage our children to question the world and to think about how and why things work the way they do. The children are encouraged to apply their knowledge and understanding when developing ideas, planning and making products and then evaluating them. The children use a wide range of materials and resources, including ICT.
Skills are continually built upon in each of the five main areas, of paper and card, textiles, food, mouldables and construction. The children design, make and evaluate in these areas through out the year. The children enjoy cooking as part of their Design Technology lessons and many links are made with different cultures and their celebrations.

Opportunities are made each year to celebrate achievement in Design and Technology as a whole school community, either through D&T assemblies, Design and Technology days or Art and Design weeks.
We run an after school 'Explorers club' as part of our After School Care which is popular with our pupils.
Many of our school outings enhance our DT curriculum, where pupils make shelters and learn the basics of construction.

In our most recent Inspection Report it was stated that;
‘Parental expertise is valued and utilised effectively. For example, a parent who is a sculptor visits the school to guide pupils with their creativity, and several parents supported the pupils in One World Week activities.’
