Art
Through our Art curriculum at Maldon Court Preparatory School we provide a rich environment in which we encourage and value creativity and imagination. We aim to develop our children’s abilities, to extend their knowledge and to bring out their full potential.

Art provides our children with visual, tactile and sensory experiences and different ways of understanding and responding to the world around them. Pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of the use of colour, pattern, texture, line, tone, shape, form, space and different materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think through the making of images and objects and through talking about and studying the work of other artists, craftspeople and designers. Children are given the opportunity not only to express themselves through art, but also to appreciate and value their rich cultural heritage and the art of other cultures.
The children are encouraged to explore ways of using pencils, crayons, paint, clay and a range of other materials. They are also introduced to a variety of approaches and techniques in using these materials. Drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, ICT and three-dimensional work are all ways through which children can express their ideas and feelings.
Each year we enter various local Art Competitions with great success. This year we entered the 'Maldon in Bloom' and the 'Maldon Art Trail' competitions with numerous winning entries in both.

At Christmas we entered Cannon Carter and the Mayor's Christmas card competition with a winning and runners up entry that was distributed to all the parishioners.
The Reception class sent beautiful paintings to decorate the children's ward at Basildon Hospital which were gratefully received.
As part of our After School Care we run two art based clubs, one of which is a popular drawing club which also carters for our gifted and talented budding artists and in our most recent Inspection Report it was stated that;
'The school is a pleasant and welcoming place. The high quality, bright displays in every area of the school creates an environment which encourages pupils to give of their best.'
